In the past week I've gotten two contracts with my name spelled wrong the #jetsgo ringtone contract and the redman contract for def jammable. People don't even know I had anything to do with the redman track because of how messed up the business was on that one! totally out of our control though. Messed up contract's and no credit is just something that comes with the music industry. I didn't get credit on the album all though I am in the system for publishing which is way more important. ANYWAY the reason for the post is because of all the name mess up's my latest one is "cats and dogs" on the Wikipedia website shown below in the screen shot.

Things are moving!

One thing that's been happening to me in the last couple of months is a lot of the artist who have been recording to my tracks have been sending them to me and asking for feedback. Basically letting me do my job which is produce, I think a lot of that comes with who I am affiliated with. It brings comfort knowing somebody isn't going to leak a record etc. As a new producer I would advice to keep quit and don't send records to your boys lol. Other then that the record Kweli recorded 2 sounds incredible! The song he recorded I beieve for now is called "Oceans"

This is probrably one of the fastest placements that has ever happened to me lol.. Heres the run down

1. I sent curren$y some tracks about a month in a half ago, he picked one, said he liked my sound so wanted me to make something special from scratch 4 him.

2. It took me about a week to form the idea of what i wanted to do, Then I started on it.

3. Making the track took almost 2 weeks. I had to make the sounds, get musicians, and edit all the parts.

4. Then I sat on it for another week wanted to make sure the mix was right

5. Finally got it to where I wanted, sent it out, Then I got the call while he was down in SXSW, they said there taking two tracks but making one of the them the 1st single for Itunes on 4/20!

6. The whole process took about a month and some change I am literally right now putting his vocals together and sending out the beat tracked so they can mix and master tomorrow!

7. BTW this is my little brother chris first placement with me he played bass, I also have Danny keyz, & Dan seef on the track. Hope ya'll enjoy!

Impirio has songs on shows like, bad girls club, New jersey shore, and other MTV shows. I made two beats for Black Ice and 1 for Impirio all on the spot, took a total of about 8 hours.. Those that know me, know I have been doing music for a very long time. I've put my blood, sweat, and tears into making music a career to support my family. Nothing about being in the music business has been easy. Not only have I had to sacrifice everything but so have my family, my manager (Mark Webster), and close friends. So many people have believed that one day I would be on albums and that you could say that's Rahki on the beat. My city (Minneapolis) knows about me because I stood on the corners selling beat tapes and albums just to be heard. Seeing the "Call of Duty" commercial almost had me in tears, I still don't believe it to be honest lol. It feels like a dream!!! This is just the beginning and I hope ya'll ride this wave with me. PLEASE go pick up the Eminem album "Recovery". There are clean versions available for those who don't want to hear cussing, so no excuses lol.

This weekends adventure @ the studio "Record Plant"

From friday to Sunday we have been working with an artist named Jared Evan who is signed to Interscope Records. He sings but also raps, very talented artist. But this was particularly a good thing for our camp to do some different kind of music u would never know that Dj khalil, Danny keyz, Chin Injeti, and myself were involved in it. We also got a chance to work with the legendary engineer Jimmy Douglas. That was an experience within it self, just learning certain things about hit records and the pop world and how corporate it can be. The music we made had the same feeling as what we called "highschool" or 90s music very melodic driven, guitars, nice rock sound but not over done. Over all great session and good learning experience.

Looks like I get a chance to use my passport for the 1st time in a couple weeks. I've been practicing with Khalil's group "The New Royals" and was asked if I could do a show on the 25th in Canada. This is only the beginning because they are the most talked about group in the industry right now so no telling what can happen with this one. It's funny how things work out because I was out of town the first time they practiced so they got another drummer, but I guess because he had personal issues he wasn't focused on the music. So khalil asked me at the jay-z concert if I could do a couple of rehearsals with them to see if we would work out. Well I guess it's working out because I've been at every rehearsal since last week. I'm hoping everything works out this has been a dream to be able to travel and do music.

For those that don't know I'm originally from Minneapolis, and have been doing music production up there for years. What an experience last night was!! being able to go see Jay-z and Em for the first time. It's funny how things happen, I went to the grocery store and drove past the venue and saw they were setting up for the night. When I saw it was jay-z and em I called khalil to see if we could get in that joint. But when I got home I saw it was a private event and only big movie stars/celebs could get in. Knowing I'm not one lol... I said O well at least I tryed and started making beats. So around 9 khalil calls me like "get ready I'm on my way we going!" Remember.. you should be ready at all times in this industry I already had my camera charged but phone wasn't charged... and because I was rushing I left my id, credit cards, and money....I was slipping but It was all good, food was free and so was liquor. Overall it was a dope experience I stood by jimmy Iovine, and lyor Cohen's was right in front of me two power houses in the industry. Also I chopped it up with Andy Milonakis told him how dope his show was lol. He was pretty drunk! Also chopped it up with jay's drummer tony we getting up soon.

Everybody's telling me this joint is the one!!! sorry I can't show everything :( but this video is about the piano player.. Paris shes a incredible musician. This was our first time working together I've been wanting to work with her for a while and finally we made it happen. She's worked with my little brother Chris doing shows etc. So the video is just going to show her playing, were replaying a sample that came out real dope. And just to show how long putting together records can take this beat was made in march, the sample replayed in april and the chorus was put to it this past thursday.

8 Things not to say or do to a music producer

You know, in this music industry I think music producers might have it the worst. Being one myself I encounter a lot of stupid people, dumb shit and bad business. All because people have no real idea how to approach someone concerning business. Here is a list 8 things not to do or say to a music producer.

Things NOT to say

1. “Can I get it for free? It’s good promotion for you”
Many people get the misconception that they can “promote” someone by “using” there music. When in reality there just trying to “use” the person. Unless you are a established artist, there is no real “promotion” unless you magically have a top 10 hit somewhere. And even if your an established artist, if you’re not attaching “Produced By” which should rightfully be there anyways or mentioning that producers name in the song, there is no real “promotion”. Stop it.

2. “I will give you points on my album”
This one is funny to me. 9 times out of 10 your album will most likely never see the light of day and if it does it won’t sell anything. It won’t even sell anything substantial enough for the minimum to receive a royalty check. Shit, say you could, the time frame it takes to actually get an album out and generate a profit is god honestly not worth it.

3. “How much you chargin?”
“How much you chargin” is the most annoying thing ever. It is the first thing out of a window shopper’s mouth. How about you admit you don’t have any money to spend on production and just keep it moving? How about, “I have X amount of dollars to spend, let’s make it work.” or something of that degree.

4.“Ill do you some verses for free, for a beat”
Now what in the world would I need with your verses? What the hell am I going to do with that? I don’t want to listen to you rap. I want to listen to you putting money in my hand for my hours of work. Seriously, what in your mind thinks someone wants a “verse” from you when they have nothing to do with rap?

5. Pretend like your going to buy something
Please don’t pretend that you want to buy some music. How about you just be upfront and say you can’t do anything right now. Why lead someone on? Why cause friction and disappointment on purpose? Who really wants to go through with all of that. Be upfront always. Explain your situation and status so there is confusion or miscomunication.

6. Use something and don’t pay
This is not a try before you buy. This is not let me eat a hamburger and say “oh, it’s not good enough I don’t want to buy it” kind of thing. Know what you want and get it, never use or expend things you don’t need. Don’t waste someone’s hard work, there might be someone else out there who might want that track. Music can be a personal thing for music producers and to see X amount of energy just go wastefully on a mixtape can be a hard thing.

7. Ask to hear music when you have no plans on doing anything
Major labels do this all the time. A&R’s request music to hear music for artist x x and x when in reality they already have the track list and producers in mind, an in house team already signed on to do an album or big producers already paid for singles. Why they do this, who knows?

8. Lead someone on for your own personal gain
Don’t lead anyone on folks. This is the worst thing anyone can do. If you have no plans in fulfilling promises don’t even mention them. People do this tactic to get what they need from someone for their own personal gain and in return LIE. Why lie? Why drag someone’s hopes trough the mud with no real intentions on fulfilling them.

So right now I'm at the crib chillin!!!! I'm suppose to be on the road but some things got changed around because of J holiday. He didn't show to the San Fran show yesterday so, they canceled it. So basically we drove up to San Fran to site see which was ok because that was my first time up there. So we have PHX tomorrow, then we come back to LA for the Nokia Theater show then leave on Monday for Vegas. Everythings still in tact, I get the day off today from drumming but have to go to the studio to get other things done. So really I don't get the day off lol... work work work heres my pics from san fran
